Secondary education in schools in England

Go to boarding school options in England

Foreign students wishing to receive secondary education in England can be admitted to some schools at a fairly young age, starting from 8 years old, but most children come to the UK a little later. Some children who want to learn English as early as possible, integrate into the British education system and achieve the best results, enter schools from 11-12 years old. But the majority still begin to study at the age of 14-15, from the beginning of the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) course, which lasts 1-2 years. At the end of the program, those who passed exams in 5 subjects can continue their studies in the A-Level program. Within 2 years, schoolchildren will have to thoroughly study 3-4 subjects and pass exams, the results of which will be taken into account when applying to British universities.

The most prestigious schools are private boarding schools, many of which were founded 200-300 years ago. The names Eaton and Harrow, Winchester and Rugby are a symbol of the honor and glory of Britain. Many of their graduates are invited to study at Cambridge and Oxford.
